Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival (DGAF) is looking for a Youth Development Officer, who will be responsible on a day-to-day basis for the delivery of the Young Persons Programme (YPP). They will also work closely with the Young Promoters Group (YPG) and others.
The Role:
Part Time (15 hours pw) 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
£21,840 (pro rata £9,360)
• With the General Manager, develop and plan a programme of activity for Young people.
• Ensure we are engaging and consulting young people on programming choices for them.
• Ensure we are offering workshops and industry based shadowing opportunities.
• Manage the YPG.
• Compile annual and interim reports for YPG activity.
• Engage with young people and offer them a platform to perform on a year round basis.
• Ensuring maximum awareness off DGAF YPG activity and attendance at events.
• Be responsible for the YPG’s social media platforms.

The YP Development Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of the YPG and our youth engagement remit.
The outcomes for this project will be achieved and delivered according to the funding agreement.
To maintain a minimum of 10 active members from across the region.
Arrange and chair monthly evening meetings with the YPG.
Set agendas and take minutes of the meeting and agree an action plan.
To assist the YPG to programme their vision for our Arts Live programme and the 10-day Festival in May.
To provide support to the YPG, inspire, and help them develop new skills.
To review opportunities for young people and offer personal development opportunities within the performing arts sector.
Arrange Go & See opportunities outside the region as well as attending other performing arts related shows in the region. E.g. Edinburgh Fringe, Chrysalis Theatre.
Create a programme of training opportunities for young people across the region including a minimum of 3 sessions per year with different groups.
Create workshop opportunities from touring companies visiting the area to young people.
Create opportunities for young people to engage in the following industry jobs: Sound and Lighting tech shadowing, Event Management, Front of House Duties, Stage Management.
With your support the YPG will programme and event manage at least one event in each of our seasoned programmes. This equates to 3 performances per year in a minimum of 2 locations each time engaging with youth groups to help deliver and promote these shows.
With our commission fund, offer young people opportunities to realise their dreams: this might be getting into a recording studio to produce a professional recording, to assisting them in launching their music or getting a script realised.
